Key West 2005

I have lived my life in Florida, but it wasn’t until May 2005 that I ventured below Key Largo. Key West was calling, so we packed up the truck and headed to the southern most city. For six nights and seven days, we trekked the streets from one end of town to the other. The sights, sounds, and history were invigorating.




From the docks of the Bight

to the Southern Most House to the Little White House, from St. Mary’s Star of the Sea

and St. Paul’s Episcopal to Sloppy Joe’s Bar, from Pirate Soul to Mel Fisher’s,







from the Hemingway House to the Key West Cemetery, conch tours during the day and ghost tours at night.

Sunset sails

and a cruise to the Dry Tortugas National Park.

We rose early and went to bed late. Too soon our reprieve ended, and as Margaritaville faded from view we began to plan a return visit!
